Pet Peave - Sleeves without a slick lining

Bought myself a new Drake jacket. The inside of the liner sleeves is not slick, and is a PITA to slide over my hunting sweater. I will leave it with my MIL in March and have her sew in some sleeve lining.

I sent a note to Drake, suggesting they address this in future designs. The outer coat is fine, it is just the liner that is like this.... obviously the folks designing these jackets don't wear them hunting, or am I the odd ball?

Which model did you get so we don't repeat the mistake?

My old Drake pullover (still my favorite and warmest outer layer) has slick nylon the last 6 inches or so, so they definitely used to do that... but don't know that they ever did full sleeves. I suspect that it isnt a problem for many given the transition from wool sweaters to plastic mid-layers.

Like you, I bitch whenever I try to put on a jacket over cotton or wool - but when I wear my plastic fleeces or light puffy I have no problem pulling on fleece-lined jackets.

Surprised the liner jkt. isn't slick inside as most models are simply a kind of nylon either side with insulation sandwiched between. Does liner jkt. have fleece inside it ? I seem to run into a gun mount issue with their 3n1 styles getting the tall outer shell collar keeping my head from going down on stock perfectly. Although Jkts. are plenty warm with right base layers under them they just don,t seem to work perfectly for myself shooting. I also bought a new one right after Christmas .. Warm as can be but i,m going to sell it and move on I believe. I bought the Reflex 3n1.

I'd be in the smooth sleeves club, except that my outer layer is always a waterproof shell with no insulation. I have three--a heavy non-breathable that is bomb-proof dry for days I won't be working up a sweat; a fairly heavy weight Gortex wading jacket from Simms for cool-to-frigid conditions; and a very lightweight one for warm days with rain. The two heavy ones are oversized to fit over just about any combination of layers I might put underneath. All are completely smooth inside and out.

Barbour isn’t well suited for duck hunting, but I always liked the material they put in their sleeves. Super slick and makes wearing it over a sweater or conversely rolled up sleeves easy. Wish my old filson had a lining more like it.
