Pheasant Face

Hi,

I wanted to share a photo of my girl Aspen with a face full. The only thing that keeps this from being one of my all time favorite photos of the dog is that I didn't shoot the bird Sutton did. At least it wasn't one of the many birds I missed on the trip.

glad it wasn't one of the "young" Roosters that she picked up like that....

My Snipe place on the Refuge is drier than last year, much heavier cover-(as good as anything we hunted in Montana), so not holding many Snipe.....the Pheasants were there though......needed Aspen to do the cattail work....we need to meet there once the place freezes and the birds move out of the sage into the thermal cover....

Broke my camera.....and did something to my heel so I'm home instead of hunting the whole weekend.....left a message on the phone....I have your windbreaker.....call me....

Steve,

Battery on the phone took a dump again this afternoon. I was able to get your message off the phone but did not have enough juice to call you back. I will call tomorrow. Seems like a fair trade...you got my windbreaker and water bottle and I found your snot rags crammed under my front seat. :)

The Pains would have much rather been with you today hunting rather of working around the house with me.

My best,

Don

Tod,

It was a great trip even with the company. We acutally do real well together. Steve cannot hear and I talk low and mumble. I don't think we were ever having the same conversation at the same time. It was a bit cold and the bird numbers where not what we are use to seeing but we still found enough to make it fun. We only spent one day on Sage grouse. Steve saw some but I never did. Thanks for the information on some Sage spots. We are already planning next year.

My best,

Don

Nekkid stump dancing can be hard on a guy. Must not have used the WD-40.

All I had in the cehicle was one of those little cans of WD-40....I had already used it twice that morning.....once on Mike's scraped up nose and pads and the second time to fix an under-inflated tire, (I keep tellin everyone that this stuff is a miracle product), and then had emptied the can trying to fix the camera......(O.K. I'll admit that it works better on flesh, and simple mechanical things than it does on complicated electronics)...to no avail....

Sooooo by the time I hurt my heel the can was empty.....

TRUST ME there will be a BIG CAN in the vehicle when I get back from mailing the camera off to Canon this morning.....

not to mention good lens coatings!!!!!

Nice picture of the pup.

Steve having a non-working camera begs the question "Why don't we ever seem to see a picture anymore when his camera IS working?"

I'm lazy.......

Seems to take me forever to get them out of the camera and onto the computer....then I agonzie over the ones I like, and don't like, and then its another eternity until I get them processed....and by then they are 30 plus days old, or older, and I end up not posting them.....

Excuses, excuses....I know....now that the body is broken maybe with no new ones being shot I'll get caught up some.....
