Pics of Push rowwing a gunning Dory-

That is cool. I bet that shape moves nicely through the water.
I suppose you get some strange looks from the motor boats.

Donald,

Where could one find a copy of the plans for the rowing set up you have? I remember seeing a photo of that type set up on a boat from Reelfoot lake just don't have it anymore.

hi- there anre no plans- just long oars- set in oarlocks on the gunnels- and strong shoulders-
it does move easy

Okay, now I looked a little closer. What I was remembering was an apparatus that allowed one to pull the oars as you would normally with your back to the forward progress. However, the oar is attached to something that converts the action basically into a push. So you are sitting and looking toward your forward motion.

Put Big Dan in the bow and then row against an incoming tide before you say its easy!!!

Really the boat row remarkably well for the size. Suprised me with the tracking.

Did you see the new Wooden Boat magazine? Has a tribute article about the builder by a friend and "apprentice" of his.

Big Dan in the Bow- thats all i need- You had a work out that morning-

i have not seen the article- Did you see our new layout boat?? the Witham?? call me as we need to put it down to camp- its tied to a float 1/2 way down river-

Thanks- we need to set day to start cleaning camp and putting the deck up- on the east side- with a decoy box- like we talked about-

Take care- DLHO
