Planing hull BBSB seaworthyness?

Has anyone been in a planing hull BBSB in the ocean salt water? How much seaworthiness do you lose? I am thinking about constructing one. Most likely strip planked and round. Maybe even more melonseed size.

I really don't need seaworthiness in the lake I hunt all the time, but if I head west to the coast or a bit farther north a bigger lake you never know.

I wouldnt take any BBSB in the ocean, but there is a significant difference in seaworthyness in a planning vs displacement hull

This is mostly true, but my last 'planing' hull I owned was extremely seaworthy. It had a traditional 'displacement' hull that flattened out at the transom, thus giving you the speed of a planing hull, but the sea keeping abilities due to the rounded hull in the 'sweet spot.'

A big factor that hasn't been addressed yet is weight. My last boat was a heavy glass sneakbox with mahogany ribs, etc. and with that weight it went through a heavier chop with ease. Your mileage will vary between heavily glassed boats, lighter glass boats, and wood boats.

As was said earlier, I don't think anybody is taking their sneakbox into the ocean.
