Pointe Mouillee Hotels??

I am planning on attending the show at Pointe Mouille this year with a couple of my hunting buds. In the past, I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Monroe. Is there anything closer? A website shows another hotel chain in Flat Rock. Any areas we should avoid?

I don't think theres much in the way of hotels in that area so I'd stick with the Holiday Inn. As far as areas to avoid, if you are coming up I-75, be aware that there is construction closing all but 1 lane north from mile marker 20 for a long way and I'm pretty sure the south bound side is down to 1 lane also. I know there is an exit before the construction that will take you to Pt. Mouille, but I don't remember the number, maybe 15? Not much but I hope it helps.

Last time I stayed there you could cut the curry smell with a knife. You probably will have to drive up the lakeshore.

In general, Monroe and Flat Rock are both pretty safe areas. Side-of-the-freeway hotels are pretty much the same anywhere you go in my opinion. Flat Rock is a little bit closer to Pte Mouille than Monroe, but it's not significant, so go ahead and make your hotel choice based on price. Like Denny B. said, there's a lot of construction on I-75, so if that kind of thing drives you nuts like it does me, you may want to find a route "off freeway."
