Price of a BB3?

It's been a long time since I was on this site. I built a BB3 in 2003 and if I say so myself it turned out pretty good. Couldn't have done it without this site or the people on it. There is a 2003 30 hp Yamaha 2 stroke on it and a trailer. I haven't been able to use the boat in the past few years, and am thinking of selling her. I hate to do it as I am not the kind of guy that could have built a boat but with a good friend and all your help I did and I was and am very proud of the boat. Killed many ducks out of her to. But also don't want to let her just sit around and not be used. I have no idea what this boat motor trailer package would be worth. Was hoping you all could give me a starting point. What is she worth? Used all the best materials and then some.

Thanks
Alex

Alex,

That's tough. What a boat is worth to the builder and what one will sell for are not even close. I've seen a few on here that sold and they all ended up being discounted to get rid of them. Best materials or not. I built a BB3 also and know I have $2500 in materials (wood, epoxy, fittings, wiring, custom gas tank) + 3-400 hours + an $800 trailer + a $1500 motor. I "should" be able to get at least $3-4000. for it but sadly I'd be suprised if I got more than $2500 tops. Buyers just don't give wooden duck boats the respect they deserve.

I'd love to have someone prove me wrong but unfortunately it is doubtful that she will sell for what she is worth.

Wow, a blast from the past. I bet your area is a good one to sell that boat and you've got a great motor on it. The amount you get is really a function of how patient you are. If you want it off your hands now then a low price will move it. I'll throw out $2000 If you don't mind waiting for someone who appreciates the boat you can set a price higher. I'll throw out $3500. Of course the current conditon has a lot to do with it but when I came to your place I recall you storing it in your garage. If you did that over the years I'd guess it's in very good shape. best of lck and let us know if we can help.

Good to hear from you Eric. Thanks for the input. That was a cool night you coming into our area for work and we had you over for dinner. It has always been about the dogs to me. So now I have really gone to the dogs. Sold everything I owned, home and business and now just train dogs full time for field trials. Go south in the winter and north in the summer to get the right weather to train. Just got my Amateur Field Champion title on my little girl dog "Star" and going to the National Championship in Michigan in June. This all started with just wanting a good gun dog to go duck hunting with. Now not much time to hunt. And around here it has gotten almost impossible to find places to hunt. Have to join a nice club to have a place to go. So the boat isn't doing me any good. How you doing?
