Puppy update

Well maybe it's not a puppy update anymore. Deuce is growing and his puppy teeth are falling out. In the past 36 hours he lost both Dracula fangs on the left side. That puts a little damper on the retrieving right now which is a bummer because he is enjoying that immensely right now.

Here he is standing at attention wanting me to throw the tennis ball... I'm staying away from the bumpers right now with his teeth, he can still pick the ball up easily. It is such a great way to burn a little of his energy that I can't completely stop during teething.

This is his more normal look. A little goofy and a little warm. He is not a fan of warm weather. Lots of water breaks but he does try to keep going.

I'm starting to lose hope that he will grow a beard. His grandmother took a while I guess but other then a few scraggly whiskers he isn't giving me much to encourage my faith. I can take the "Nice looking Shorthair" comments, I'm tough. :)

It doesn't matter though. I do like his body coat and as you can see in the first two photos he has all the legginess I could hope for. That is one of the reasons I picked him, I got lucky with that.
He is learning how to use those legs too... this is causing collar conditioning to be pushed ahead a little ahead of schedule.

This is his most common position these days. I have no idea how or why he does it but he can sleep for hours like this.

He is turning into a good house dog. Yeah he gets a little excited and rambunctious at times but if I do my part and tire him out he is a calm dog. The garbage does need a lid now... that legginess does have some drawbacks.

He is also fashionable. I don't think he was trying to destroy his blanket but was just wanting to try a stylish poncho. Well he is still a puppy, he has to be a little mischievous.

Now this is a great update on Deuce. Great shots, Tim! I'll bet that with some age you might see the makings of a beard. I absolutely love that shot of him draped over the chair. Thanks for the early morning treat, Tim.

Great photos thanks for sharing! You can also try the canvas bumpers while teething, or I also used paint rollers. Just fill them with a little weight to throw them.

Fine lookin' young 'un right there. I've been meaning to ask about Deuce, but you answered my questions :). Is he interferring with you getting the garden in this year?

Thanks Rick I might try the paint roller later today. He just loves retrieving right now so I hate to stop it.

Tod,
Yes and no. At times he is fine sitting outside watching me plant and weed, other times he gets upset that I'm not paying attention to him. I have the bad habit of getting dogs very attached to me. It's good for some things but he doesn't get it yet why he can't always be there helping me. He hates the tiller so he goes inside when I do that.
Since I only do short 15-20 minute training sessions that isn't taking much time right now. I already went for long walks in the evening so that hasn't changed much.

So far the garden is a little slow. I had several things freeze last week even though I covered them. My potatoes all turned black and are now shooting up new growth. I was trying to cut back some this year but it seems like I'm going to end up filling up all the ground. We need more rain soon or I'm going to have to water already. We may be out of the drought but it takes a while to build back moisture.

It is spring and as my typical complaint - it is wet, wet, wet. We have had a couple opportunities to get in and till. Jen got peas in on time and they look awesome. We got a bunch of the early spring stuff in last week, it has been raining the past couple days and we need to get peppers, tomatoes, etc in this week. Asparagus is on and strawberries are not too far off.

I'm hoping for some rain for ya.
