Do you have to register all watercraft in Wi.? Or are there boats that are exempt? I bought one from Wi. and Illinois requires bill of sale, which I have, and the registration, which I dont have, dont know if this boat is exempt or not,any help would be appreciated, thanks Brian

Boats 16' and over must be registered. Anything below that doesnt need to be. I had the same problem with one my boats a while back

Brian,

Here is the web site with that information: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/es/enforcement/docs/BoatingRegs.pdf

Here is the applicable paragraph I think.
Registering Your Vessel
You must have a Wisconsin Certificate of Number (registration) and
expiration decals to operate a recreational vessel legally. Exceptions to
the requirement to register a recreational vessel include:
• Sailboats 12 feet of length or less and not equipped with a motor
• Sailboards
• Manually propelled vessels that are not equipped with a motor or sail
• Vessels registered in another state and using Wisconsin waters for less
than 60- consecutive days

See my post below for details directly from the DNR web site. ALL motor powered boats must be registered. Only those over 16 ft. need to have a title.
