My hunting partner sent an e-mail to Bill about the meeting. Here is Bill's reply:
The meeting was attended by about 30 hunters. As expected, there were a good number of Missisquoi hunters there. Only a few late-season diving duck hunters attended. There were also a few Interior Zone hunters at the hearing.
Basically, only about ½ of the Missisquoi hunters spoke in favor of the proposal, and some of them conditioned their approval on getting a split season in the Interior zone. Since 80% of the Interior Zone hunters want a straight season, that is not likely to happen.
I know that this proposal has close to unanimous support from the late season diving duck hunters, but it doesn’t seem to be as well received by the Missisquoi hunters.
