Question on jet motors / jet ski motors

I have a 14 ‘ Carstens Canvasback. I was thinking of trying to put a jet ski type motor on it. I don’t need it to go real fast, it does need to navigate rocky areas, so I thought a jet would be nice. I can’t seem to find to much info on jet motors, their weight or any projects people have done in equipping duck boats with lightweight jet motors. Any help is appreciated,

Bob,There was a guy on here who did just that with a PWC motor and it looked like it would fly!!! I wouold be interested in doing that to if those motors could handle weeds. They don't!! I have access to a bunch of them but until someone comes up with a good weed solution they will stay on the floor of the shop.. I will look more for info when I am home.

There is also a company selling something along these lines. This company made the motor removable so that you could carry the boat to the water and then carry the motor to the water and install in less than a couple of minutes. I can't recall the name but I do have their DVD at home. It was a nice set-up although not the best duck boat. Wait, it's coming to me, I think the name of the company is/was molakai or seomthing along those lines.

Let me know if you want this info and I'll post when I get home.

Jet Jon moved to a sub site of Glen-L Marine. Go to the search function and type in jet jon and it will pop up.

The manfuctured boat is the Mokai. Below is a link to their use in Alaska. As long as you don't use them in weeds they are great boats according to the users. These boasts use small air cooled Honda engines and don't get up to the speeds of a PWC. I met the east coast manufacture up here in Alaska in April. I couldn't get the info from her about whether the jet is a typical PWC jet or if they have a special impeller for the low HP engines.

I have seen PWC's with stomp grates to clear debris from the intakes, but they are custom fabrications.
