Question on Victor Decoys

I'm not an expert on Victor history or styles but need some info on a couple of Victor styles that I saw this week. They are mallards with two holes in the rear of the decoy and I'd like to know more about this style with product time frame and function.

The holes are under the tail and about 3/4" or sightly larger and drilled into the lower rump and facing aft. I know that Victors had a Vac DuK style in one of their models. I have seen this style with the holes one other time but don't know the reason.

Thanks W

Any picks Willie? The only Victors I have ever had (D-8's and D-9's) only had one hole and it had a rubber plug in it. It was for draining water out of them as far as I knew. Can't recall seeing one with two holes.

Ah, the old bumpy ones with all the ridges. I'm stumped. I will just sit back and wait to learn from someone else. They weren't where the machine held them were they?

Willy: The decoys you are refering to are actually from the "Hudson Manufacturing Company" , (Pascagoula,Mississippi) circa 1925-1941.
They were called the DUO-STA model with two round holes drilled in the solid body from the tail toward the head. Air was supposedly trapped in the holes which caused the decoy to ride higher in the water presenting a more lifelike appearance. There is a chapter on Hudson decoys with photos in Joe Bosco's book "Pascagoula Decoys"

Thanks Ken......

They sure had the same look as Victors but the holes in the reat really made me question them. The paint and condition was pretty bad. Can I assume they have the about the same value as Victors?
