Thats a whole bunch of great pics Al!

Post some pics of your new puppy house when you get it done, Id like to see it.

Hi Doug,
I will do that. Today after I deliver a cord of wood, I have to drive just 62 miles to Home Depot to load up on most of the supplies for this project. Since we might have some showers, I am hoping to be back home in the early afternoon. We have room to store all of them in our garage.

Al, he looks great. You can still see, just underneath the surface, the spirit and soul that makes him Chaco.

Thanks for the update. Just something about his personality.

Best - Paul

Thanks Al......Been away from the site for a while. Since my Dad passed away on Mar. 20th, it's been a whirl wind of things to complete. Getting Mom taken care of at a nursing home, taking care of Dad's financial business, selling Mom and Dad's house...etc. But I believe I about got a good hand on everything and hopefully life will get back to normal.

Al,

Phenomenal photos. Really like all of them but the hummer and rainbow and all of them lit in a bush are great.

Those comments are appreciated, Mark. Thank you. Bev and I have thoroughly enjoyed the hummingbird migration that has been going on here since around the middle of July.

A calliope male which happens to be the smallest bird in North America since his mate is larger. We saw them for the first time on July 14th and I haven't seen one since August 10th. They must all be in Mexico by now. As you look at him please realize that he is only about 2 3/4 inches long. That makes them shorter than an index finger. When you can stand just a foot away from them feeding on nectar you begin to understand more about the word, "Tiny"!

That is quite the flock of hummers Al!

I found this word "flock" very interesting in your comment. You are right, Greg. With almost all birds you can use it but most likely not with raptors or hummers because when we see them generally you just see one or two. I have to admit that we had a flock of them this summer!

Here is a flock of hummers. Took this shot early in the morning at our feeders on August 4th.

I gave this same shot more light so it was easier to count the birds.

I can see at least 30 Al. That really is amazing. I guess the old saying "Build it (in your case, the feeders) and they will come" is pretty apt in this instance. I have been re-seeding my wildflower patch this year and plan to continue to expand it so that I can get a few back at my place here in Jersey. I still remember the first time I saw one and thought it was a gigantic bee of some sort as a teenager.

Wow! And I thought we were going through sugar fast this summer. Cool pics!

Jason, with that comment now you have me curious. What varieties of hummers do you get? Glad to know that you had a good year with them also.
Might you have some pictures to post?
Al
