Remington VERSA MAX

Again, maybe not what you want to hear. It I have been shooting remingtons mostly 870's most of 35+ yrs of hunting and decided it was time about 10yrs ago to move up to an auto and have owned ever auto the stores sell. I simply stayed away from the Remington field autos due to the fact my aunt and uncle who own a gun shop telling me the faults of the Remington's they've sold.. I will not own a 3 1/2" 12 bore and as Tom knapp told me himself, they are NOT BALISTACLLY CORRECT FOR 12 bore and have owned a benelli cordoba which is a 3" gun and yes it's more money than the SBEII and that gun without regular cleanings has never left me stranded in the 4 yrs I've had it. Good luck in your decision.

Well if any of you are members of the "buy high, sell low club" and get one of these I am a proud member of the buy it used and save club....That said Ive been looking for a used one....nod nod, wink, wink.

Breach locks never have cycling issues.. I'm getting away from pumpers and autos myself..and looking for a nice o/u...it's rare thing from my experiences on the sporting clay circuit that you can't effectively dbl out when you mount up. IMHO o/u mount fast swing balanced and sight instinctively well. Just my two cents worth...oh looking for a fair deal on a 20 o/u preferably ruger, berreta 686, winchester 101, rem premier or a savage milano. I learned how to shoot on dbls and there is something to be said for that solid lock up sound.....

3rd shot has killed alot of birds and recoil reduction would be my reason to stick with an auto. Double guns are fine if you can handle the pounding.

I just got my Remington Versamax the other day, cant wait to try it out on some clays at the range... Thanks for all the replies.

you cant go wrong with the sbe2. I have been shooting this gun for years with no problems. The only thing is you have to shoot 1 and a eight oz shot at trap or they will jam.

I also shoot a over under 512 goldwing later in the season for diver hunting great shooting gun for 600 bucks.

I think Browning makes the Cynergy. Browning made a 3.5" Citori and used ones are still around. I hunted in WI with a guy who had a 3.5" over under. His statement was that "it killed on one end and wounded on the other."

I will be waiting. I want this to be my next shotgun. I just gave the L C smith back to my brother so I have to replace it.

I saw I put benelli I ment browning

the goldwing i have is a nice 3 in gun you dont need anymore than that for ducks
it is a very nice gun for 600 bucks
the only thing I dont like is the over under switch for the safety but I dont use it often
very well made for the price and comes with 5 choke tubes

Dave is right! Chris congrats on the new Versa Max. I hope to see it smackin Whistlers on Champlain this year. As for my personal opinion of the varied autos, I have owned three. SBE, SBE2 and SX2. The only problem I have ever had with the SX2 is when the temp drops into the teens it jams and needs to be run very dry. When it is that cold I bring the SBE2. I shoot the SX2 better than the SBE2 so I shoot shoot the SX2 most of the time.
