Rig of the future

Hi gang,

I am a former lurker (just a few posts to my credit in the old days) that has been away for a year or two due to life changes (mostly good). I am back for 2 reasons

1) I have a little time now, which is a new thing
2) I just bought a boat yesterday (Yipee)

I was looking for an aluminum skiff but grabbed this fiberglass jon boat when she became available. I am going to be duckifying her over the next couple of months and I will need some advice since I've never worked with fiberglass.

I will try to post pictures, but for now, my questions are:

It is an 80's era glass Sears Gamefisher with that lovely fiberglass rash treatment on all surfaces. will paint keeps that at bay?

There are also a few minor cracks, including on the transom, that I want to prevent from getting worse.

What materials should I use to solve these problems? Epoxy? Polyester? Paint? Astroturf?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

epoxy is the only way to go you can repair polyester with epoxy but youcan't repair expoxy with polyester and you should have 100% patch. today I used my House paint sherman williams lodge brrownmixted with grreen to make a OD color looks great on my BBSB. Bill
