Hey Chip, i dont want to hijack your thread, but my hunting partner and I have four boats combined, not counting our kayaks, we have a 20 ft alumacraft, 16 ft gator, a 15 ft vhaul and a 14.5 ft sneak boat....weve used raffia grass on all of them, its amazing, we use a 4-5 color mix depending what boat and we use, we have had the grass on the boat for four seasons now, i have to order more last year, you can get a solid 3-4 seasons on each order, i ALwAYS over do my camo, i always feel like you can never be concealed, if youd like to see pictures let me know, but i think i paid around $3 a pound and the stuff is amazing. After you order 4-5 colors, id seperate all the colors in pile, i hand pick a few strands of each color at a time and tie a knot in the middle, slide a black zip tie thru the knot and then zip tie it to the blind nice and tight, we travel 60+ mph on highway at least 3days a week from sept-jan with the boats and it never moves, but anyways heres the link, i swear By this raffia grass And will never buy anything else, plus you can call and they can answer and recommend anything!

Great info. I would go with Mat no questions but there are going to be times I cannot put my boat under cover to dry and worried about rot. I would like some pics if you can or a link to where you've discussed it before. Had planned on using snow fence for the backing for the mat but I have a metric ton of tan desert military netting that I might use with rafia. Ideas? It will be going on a AA broadbill that I'll be making low profile...sitting on the floor and using as a layout.
