We are having our DU Seafood Dinner on July 31st at 6pm in Bayville, NJ at the Bayville Elks.

Tickets are $45 and it is all that you can eat. We are having shrimp, clams, crabs, scallops, working on stripper, salad, bread, dessert. There will be hotdogs and hamburgers as well. Beer mugs are $7 and all you can drink responsibly. This is a great time for $45.

Jim Donofrio, I'd love to see you and Wes there. I'll even give your the mic to talk about the RFA.....deal???? If Wes wants to donate a mount in some way, I'll get him a courtesy ticket.
.
At this dinner we are having a Chinese auction, silent auction, 50/50, multiple gun raffle, and gear raffle. Also if anyone would be so generous to donate an item, I can give you a tax-deductible receipt.

Side note.....I was also thinking of another duckboats.net get together. Deal is that anyone that is interested can come in Friday eve or Saturday morning. Spend the day in Tuckerton at the seaport and the museum on Saturday while I help in the AM at the Elks setting up. Then arrive at 5:30 ish so you can get into the door early and get a good table. I can reserve a table if needed. Sunday, we can take the boats out in the AM for a ride and then have lunch before everyone heads back home.

Please let me know if there is any interest and I will put you in contact with the ticket chair to purchase tickets.

Thanks for your help and assistance in making this event better than last year's

Carl,
It's in NJ... He shouldn't have any trouble finding Striper or strippers. Most really good parties down the shore have BOTH :)

Yeah Carl....we picked up 40lbs of Striper today. Sorry the stripper got away form me. But hey, if it means a record turnout I am sure that we can work something out......

Like I said, either one makes for a good party!
I hear the head boats up in RI are tearing up the striper, fluke & seabass. Wish I could road trip up, all our nearshore & offshore stuff is shut down by the oil spill.

That's a real shame Carl. You guys must have an unbelievable mess on your hands.

We boated 15 fluke last Sunday in Barnegat bay but no keepers. Had a good time fishing though. It's tough putting those tastey fillets back in the water, especially the 16" plus ones.

John,

We prefer that you buy in advance. This way everything will be filled out on the ticket stub prior to you coming in the door. All we have to do is take your ticket and give you back your copy. Kinda like when you go to the movie theater. Tickets are $45 and include a one year membership to DU as well.

You can mail me a check @

Luckily, most of our inshore stuff is still open but the summer heat and the fact that the falling tide does not start until around 1:00 pm makes for miserable fishing the peak feeding times. They have been catching quite a few flounder, redfish & speckled seatrout, but I just cant see baking my ass off when I filled the freezer up last month.
It will be September before I start seriously fishing again.

Its a mess, especially on the beaches. Some days it is clear and and 3 days later, a line of weather oil patties & tar balls are washing up everywhere. Our marshes have dodged the bullet so far, but our offshore environments (where all the pelagic fish & shellfish larvea are) is probably taking a beating. We wont know for sure until the leak is plugged and we can start long-term monitoring.
One this for sure, our tourism industry is shot for this year. Lots of people lost 50-100% of their rental commitments for the summer. Restaurants & stores on the beach are empty. Its terrible, millions of dollars in revenue have been lost. BP is making good on the small claims (under $5,000/monthly claim) pretty quickly, but the big claims are dragging out.

Y'all have fun at the banquet, eat some clams for me!

Thanks Jim.

I have to call Wes as well. Have a few birds that I need done. Did you ever find any weathered wood that I can use for a wood duck box? I have the drake and hem combo that I want to use with the box for an authentic look. Also have a Pintail pair and a black and a BWT as well.
