Shaving Horse Plans..

I was wondering if anyone had plans on a shaving horse? any recommendations on wood type(s) to use.

I've seen plenty of pictures on the web, but would like to get an idea for a 6 foot tall guy like myself to actually fit my long legs and be comfortable.

Charles,

Not sure if it will help you or not, but there is a tutorial in the "Carvers Corners" section of this website.

I did some internet searches on shaving horses and found a set of plans for a "bowl horse" which looked perfect. $30 at Lowes for wood and hardware and this is the result.

I like this setup because there is nothing to get in the way of the knife. I have added a couple blocks to raise and lower the carving as needed.
Here are the plans:

Note: I shortened it a good bit as it was way too long when built according to the plans. I put a full sized goose on it to figure out what the max length needed to be.

Nah, the Moderator would say something like "Isn't that the razor Tod uses for his back hair?"...but he'd only know from rumors, defiantly no first hand knowledge!

I was just going to add a manscaping comment here and I see this....
