Small lightweight to run only GPS

Hey Everyone

Looking for a small lightweight battery ( around 20 lbs) to just run a GPS off of .
What you guys running ?

A small sealed lead acid battery is the way to go if that is all you are running.
Less than 5 pounds, make sure to get a charger.
Check out your local battery shop or Amazon.
Charger should be around $10-15, battery around $15-25

I run a trolling motor, so I have to have a large deep cycle. If I didnt have the TM, I'd have a small sealed lead acid.
You can run fish finder, gps and LED running lights on one for more hours than you will be out there.

Ditto what Carl said.

Just watch the amp-hour (AH) rating to get the most bang for the buck.

I use something like this on my kayak to power a fish finder/GPS combo and it works fine.

I couldn't pull up Carl's recommendation, but I would second what Randall wrote. That particular battery is rated at 8 ampere hour which should power you GPS for a long time. And, as stated, make sure to get a matching charger, not too big for it.

I have a couple of questions.

1. What kind I f GPS unit are we talking about?
2. I am assuming you want 12V output for the power source?
4. Is your GPZ 12V input
3. How long do you want to run it
4. What is the draw back n your GPS?

I have gone away from lead acid batteries for a few of my needs. My ice fish flasher is a lithium battery as well as the power source for my lights. I can also plug in my iPad/phone if needed.

I have found one of the most useful batteries I have purchased are called phone power packs. They come in all sizes. Some are 5V output only and some have a 12V output as well. Last year I bought a 5V to 12V usb plug converter off of Amazon (love love love it) and now any of my 12V items can run off these inexpensive power pack.

Another option for is to get a 12V jump starter all in one unfit. Many of these have 12V continuous outputs on them as well.

So many options these days

It's a Garmin 547. It's on for 1/2- 3/4 of an hr most days. It's only used during our 100 duck/goose season. The vessel is very small so the battery needs to be very small.

I have a marine nav app for my cell phone, like a mini chart plotter, works good, I use it to find the end of a pot string when its foggy. Something like that may work for you
 
I just replaced the 12V 12aH sealed battery in my BBSB. It lasted me 9 years! I run LED cockpit lights and navigation lights off it, and have a 12V socket installed to charge my LED spot too. For less than $25 delivered off eBay, I am very pleased! I put it on the trickle charger at the start of the season, and occasionally once again mid season.
