Some pics---

Two days after our season opened I just had to go back to the ranch to see if I could still get down to the channel that I hunt there. We had some rain in this area and that made me nervous. Things still haven't dried out from 7 weeks ago when this whole area was flooded by 4 feet of water which was one mile from the Rio Grande.

Whenever I can, I take Chip along with Habi because she is a good teacher, much like Chili was for her. The little guy, who isn't so little anymore, is doing well.

I can hardly wait for the day that Habi has his pups. I know that is down the road a piece but it is exciting to speculate when I think of what each has shown me thus far.

If you look about the area that Bev and I live in, maybe it will make sense that yellow labs are used as retrievers. The areas that I hunt are loaded with sand and the blend isn't too bad.

"Hey, kid, you comin?"

Took a picture of this Eurasian dove in one of our peach trees. When we moved here in 97 there were just a handful of them. Now they have really gotten a foot hold in this area and have learned to hang out in the small villages and towns as their sanctuaries. Not many are shot during the dove season even though there is no limit on them.

If you live in New Mexico this is a MUST. Every fall Bev and I get enough green chili roasted so that we can put them in the freezer. We absolutely love them and use chili in much of our cooking. As I jokingly told a friend of mine back in Wisconsin, "We use green chili in about everything except corn flakes."

This young man did an excellent job in roasting our chili.

All that was left to do once I got home with this was to clean it and put the chili in freezer bags. Should I mention that one should NEVER rub your eyes when doing this? You'll never do it again---guaranteed!

I really enjoy the fall down here.

These little tykes have blessed our home for 7 weeks now and are beginning to leave for their new homes. They will be missed!

Al, Chip sure is getting big but I really don't think you should be letting him drive the ATV at his age.

:)

Al....Great photos! I would have a hard time seeing those pups leave. But I guess you accept at the beginning that it's inevitable. Thanks for sharing and keep the photos coming.

Al, great photos as always! My wife's family is from the Taos area and introduced me to the wonders of roasted green chiles soon after we met. I have learned the hard way to not only never touch your face or eyes after peeling them but to ALWAYS wash your hands before taking a leak too! One of the best apple pies I have ever had was NM style with a slice of roasted chile on top, it's a wonderful flavor combination!

Hey Carl, Chip is like that farm or ranch kid that learned how to drive the tractor when he was 6 years old----

I hope you will be taking the girls out again for another fishing/duck scouting trip. Good luck.

Hey Tom,
It really is a difficult thing to see the pups leave. We sure do get attached. With these two litters the one that will be the toughest to see go is Serrano, who is a black female that Bev picked out when they were just beginning to open their eyes. Boy did she turn out to be one great looking girl.

Cody, I couldn't help but chuckle because I forgot to mention that. That is a MUST!
I have to admit that I sure got hungry thinking about that apple pie with roasted green chile. They say it is addictive and I have to agree. Love the stuff!

Sure am, the wife and I are going next week to try to fill the cooler with Speckled trout again!
