Two days after our season opened I just had to go back to the ranch to see if I could still get down to the channel that I hunt there. We had some rain in this area and that made me nervous. Things still haven't dried out from 7 weeks ago when this whole area was flooded by 4 feet of water which was one mile from the Rio Grande.

Whenever I can, I take Chip along with Habi because she is a good teacher, much like Chili was for her. The little guy, who isn't so little anymore, is doing well.

I can hardly wait for the day that Habi has his pups. I know that is down the road a piece but it is exciting to speculate when I think of what each has shown me thus far.

If you look about the area that Bev and I live in, maybe it will make sense that yellow labs are used as retrievers. The areas that I hunt are loaded with sand and the blend isn't too bad.
"Hey, kid, you comin?"

Took a picture of this Eurasian dove in one of our peach trees. When we moved here in 97 there were just a handful of them. Now they have really gotten a foot hold in this area and have learned to hang out in the small villages and towns as their sanctuaries. Not many are shot during the dove season even though there is no limit on them.

If you live in New Mexico this is a MUST. Every fall Bev and I get enough green chili roasted so that we can put them in the freezer. We absolutely love them and use chili in much of our cooking. As I jokingly told a friend of mine back in Wisconsin, "We use green chili in about everything except corn flakes."

This young man did an excellent job in roasting our chili.

All that was left to do once I got home with this was to clean it and put the chili in freezer bags. Should I mention that one should NEVER rub your eyes when doing this? You'll never do it again---guaranteed!

I really enjoy the fall down here.

These little tykes have blessed our home for 7 weeks now and are beginning to leave for their new homes. They will be missed!
