Some springtime shots

You never know about a long range photo until you get it on the screen. I took a few shots of a hawk, red tail I think, that were at such a distance that I was amazed that they were at all clear. I was even more surprised to see that this big hawk, that I saw circling, had actually dropped a section of what I guess is a piece of rope...maybe was going to be a part of a nest -

The Brant have arrived but are a lot spookier than past years and I will have to work for some closer shots of these guys -

I enjoyed watching a hen Merg primp and preen on the water and also dive a lot. She just about climbed out of the water before each trip for goodies on the bottom -

There were a few mallards around but many of these ducks and the blacks are retreating into the woods and small ponds to nest -

I had a swan make a trip past that reminded me of a C5 on the runway -

The buffleheads are really starting to put on all kinds of displays and I hope to get some shots of these but the little buggers zip around like bee stung bats -

Gotta get the boat and decoys out if the wind and snow will knock it off for a week or two !

That hawk was dropping something alright, a deuce. :) They squirt out a rope looking turd. I don't think you'd want to be under one.

That swan looks HUGE. Cool, thanks for sharing these.

Great photos, Dick. I agree with you about the swan. It sure does look like a Galaxy C-5A. I sure did enjoy those mergie shots. Well done. It won't be too much longer and those mallard drakes will be all by themselves.
