Some times it is good to just to get out and use the equipment

Hi,

Aspen and a buddy and I took a little float trip today to look at some ducks, wildlife, and took an unexpected early spring swim when I choose poorly running the canoe through a rock garden . We saw 8 species of waterfowl, a badger, otter, deer, hawks...

This one has been here awhile.

First I do not have the skill of others on this site nor is my little point and shoot the right camera for getting great shots of waterfowl, but I was able to float up silently on this herd of wild Washington slow elk and get some shots.

Even with the unscheduled swim it was a great day.

Beautiful country Don, nice day to boot. I see some of those "elk" are wearing jewelry. :>) Did you take any fishing rods along?

Tod,

No not yet. The soldier stopped by on Friday and we got introduced. She is a sweety and got along well with Aspen so I think we are good to go. I feel for a guy that has to be away from his pup for a year. This will be his second stint over there.

My best,

Don

Nick,

It was cold, but not as bad as the spill I took in December. I need to get better about keeping the boat right side up.

My best,

Don

Don,
Great looking country. Did you hear any quail or roosters? I can see small mouth in that stream later on.

You going to be in MT this year for the pheasant opener and bringing that big dopey guy? I'm going to be somewhere west of the Mississippi looking for birds. Either the grasslands of SD or along the high-line.

Hey Don -

Are these shots near Pullman? I lived there while my Dad was getting his PhD. I left when I was real little. just curious. Looks beautiful.
