Here are some pics of a recent hunt I went on with a buddy of mine and of course Pearl came too.

She came from Dave Burton at http://www.blueheavenretrievers.com/

Sire is Cedar Hill's Rock'n Stormy(grandson of FC/AFC Sourdough's Slick Nick and a MH daughter of NFC/AFC Storm's Riptide Star) and Dave's personal hunting/HT dog who is out of a couple MH's going back to FC/AFC Carolina's Smoke On The Water

looks like a good hunt and a happy pup. are there many birds up there waiting for cold weather to be pushed down? it is slim pickings down here

Hi Chris,

There does appear to be a fair number of puddle ducks still here, lots of inland waters are still open with only a few coves iced over, small ponds and such have been skimmed over for a week or so but the weather opens and closes them almost daily, the rivers are wide open. Sea ducks on the other hand are getting pretty thin, I am hoping for cold like everyone else regarding that.

Amen! Looking at the forecast, though, I think you have to keep waiting. What ice we do have is about to be wiped out by a ton of rain.

Hunted a tidal march in the midcoast yesterday and there was no ice anywhere. Lakes in central Maine are finally starting to freeze, though I think I could still hunt Cobbossee if I was willing to break a little ice here and there.

You are right Al, it's not often that we have shoots like that here, as a matter of fact, can probably count them on one hand but they sure are special when it happens, more so since Pearl came along. Happy Holidays!

Hey Troy- I'm curious about your full bodies- been thinking on some for low tide hunts ( and hunting flooded marsh too) What kind are yours and where did you get them?

Hi John,

They have been a nice addition to my floating spread.

They are from Body Language Decoys, http://bodylanguagedecoys.com/

Don and Caleb do great work, they are essentially a Tanglefree decoy that they flock and paint. I keep mine in plastic bags which then go into my slotted bags, so a little more work but worth it. Would think they would work great on the coast for you. Or any open area, marsh, field, etc.

Wow, those are gorgeous...

I'm pretty much frozen out on the river now ( because of iced up ramps, not iced up river). But the northern end ofthe coastal zone is about 15 minutes down the road, so we're going to check that out this coming weekend, mon, tues.
