South Jersey Youth Waterfowl Hunt

I've been trying the last couple of years to go through DU and I just tried this weekend at Tuckerton to go through NJ Waterfowler's to set up a youth hunt. Both told me do to insurance reasons and this and that, that they don't do them any more. When I was a kid I was given a lot of opportunities to do all sorts of hunting. Well I'd like to pass that along and Paul V's post made me decide to just put it out there.

If there's any kids out there or know of a kid that would like to hunt the Southern Zone Youth Waterfowl Days (Nov 11 & 12). Send we a PM with contact info. Everything is provided, just need whatever licensce
requirements are. (I still need to check for myself). Gun, ammo, and everything else provided.

Oh and Mike B is there anything Delta is doing?

What a generous offer!

I know insurance issues have come up as an obstacle to putting kids in boats to fish as part of organized events. Two ways that I know that organizations have addressed this: One is to have the kids hunt with a professional guide, who will have his or her own insurance. (Of course, this means raising a fair charge of cash, or getting the guides to do it for free and take the tax write off.) Another is to look at the cost of an insurance supplement to cover the event. Boats and guns will make an insurer nervous, but that might be a cheaper route than paying for guides.

Or, just get a bunch of other guys like you to be generous with their time.

Oh and if there's a parent that would like to come along as well, I can make that happen. I have the capabilities of taking 2 people along (2 kids or 1 kid and parent.) If there's interest we may even stay at my buddy's cabin on the river. Plan is to do a nice breakfast on the Coleman camp stove in the boat.. Makes for a really fun time, I know my 6 year old daughter loves it.

Kevin,

Nice to meet you and your daughter this weekend. I am going to see what we can do. Delta has an umbrella policy that covers the chapter's events. If there is a way that it can be done, I will make it happen.

It was good talking to you, I appreciate any help Delta has to offer. I already have another person or two that have 2 man boats that are willing to offer their time. I figured going through an organization would help with locating kids that would like to hunt. I also have a couple contacts with NJF&W that I will see ifthey can put the word out.

Oh and my wife would like to meet you, now that my daughter has her own Delta duck call to make "music" as my daughter calls it. LOL

Thanks! I'm just trying to do my part for something I love. We need new hunters to help protect and grow this sport, for my kids and everyone else's.

I figured that your 1.5 hour drive home was going to be amusing to say the least.
