WISHING EVERYONE A MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
For us old generation Duck Hunters it will be a blessed Duck season for 25-26 seasons.
The Depts of wildlife finally came together hopefully giving us a 3 Bird Bag limit on Sprig (pintail) as it has definitely been a long time waiting and disgust from the duck Hunters their selves as they have indicated for years the numbers of Sprig when its 10 to 1 Sprig that enters the decoys on a day outing. As an older Hunter I'm looking forward to a 3-bird limit of Sprig what is proposed with all in favor so far.
Until I see it on the Books never say yea till it's there.
In mid-season here on the west coast were fortunate to get thousands of Sprigs here as they stay until they migrate south. Nothing much better in the Duck world than a Big Fat Bull Sprig all colored with a long pintail. One of my favorite Birds.
Very excited to see what that new year brings.
We each year hope we can look forward to one more duck season. We keep busy painting the Brant Decoys for the following season to come. Clean the duck decoys up and bag all the decoys.
Then the work starts on my scull boat. I will go through it with a small tooth comb making sure everything is in good shape for that following year. repainting it and then putting it away for the next season. The scull oar is in good shape and throughout the year I will build a couple more oars keeping my mind on the next season.
Here on the west coast, we have a very liberal season with Duck season running from October clear thru till the end of January.
keeping as healthy as one can do tell the wife to cut back on those big meals, so we don't overeat to keep the weight down. She agrees to do that for me. But!
That seems to not happen, and the meals keep coming with the silent word for God sakes you need to eat to keep the strength up. I guess at home they know best but, in the field, I know best LOL.
Well, everyone it' has been so far a great Duck, Goose, Brant, season and at this point is to hope it continues to the end, and pray we are all hear for the next season to begin.
Merry Xmas to ALL! MikeE
