Stamping...

Am really enjoying this feather stamping. Pair of oversized cans bodies are balsa, heads white pine and stamped in the style of the great Ben Schmidt. Decoys also have some Ferdinand Bach, Duncan Ducharme and, Joel Barber in them. Can't wait to make some for me...

I'll be doing a demo on how to do this at the Midwest Decoy Collectors Show on Saturday at noon at the MegaCenter. Stop by if you can...

Great Cans Pat I love my stamped Bills! I am working on a Illinois River Can pattern found inspiration in an old book and ran with it. Great thing about not having a local school of carving that survived in my area is I chase anything that tickles my fancy. Hopefully I can get it posted next month.

You have found a vein of gold my friend. I am enjoying watching you explore it. Saturday will be fun.

P.S. Check your work email...

Guys - Thank you for the kind words. It's stuff like this that has been keeping me fresh. We should be posting some pictures up soon from the St. Charles Show as we just returned Saturday night. Then, Tim and I loaded up and went down to Eastern Illinois University Sunday to do decoy carving demonstrations at their Folk Art Celebration. Down there, we were able to spend some time with the great folk artist Bucky Halker regarding how to keep our folk art alive and well. It was a blessing.

Been a busy decoy weekend. I'll get through my pictures and post some stuff up. I know others who attended have pictures to post as well. Tim took a bunch of great film so, be looking at www.thedecoyshed.org for some new segments. Stay tuned... Pat

Nice lines, Pat, reminds me of Darkfeather Freedman's birds, as well as Ben Schmidt's. It really adds to the overall decoy!

Pat, Excellent work, as always. You definitely have a gift that gives your dekes a distinct style that make them uniquely yours!
