Stoeger 3500... anyone have any experience with this gun?

The Stoeger 3500 seems like a great value at $679 for a semi-auto that shoots 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 in shells. It also includes 5 choke tubes and is dripped & tapped for an included weaver style rail. It has the same inertia driven system as all Benelli guns as Stoeger is owned by Benelli.

I would love to hear from anyone who has this gun, what do you think of it? Pros? Cons?

I apologize a this won't be a direct response to your question because I have no experience with the Stoeger. However, Waterfowl & Retriever magazine recently did an article on 6 budget semis for under $600. This list was:

Stoeger M3500
Tristar TSA
Mossberg 935
Escort Extreme
Weather by SA-08
CZ 712

Perhaps additional food for thought.

Not sure if you have considered any of them.

A friend bought one this spring. $600.00, He has put a few hundred rounds through it and really likes it.

I had the 2000. Long story short, I ended up having to send it back to Benelli for a refund. I had a light strike issue that they couldn't fix. I would never buy a Stoger ever again. My 2 cents, take it for what it's worth. Like mentioned above, you get what you pay for.

I had the 2000 also and it went back to the factory twice before they finally offered me a refund. Bought a Remington 11-87 Supermag next which literally blew the bolt out of the gun on a hunt, that gun went back also. Now I have the SBE 2 and I love it. Just like someone else said, you get what you pay for

Mr. Hyatt- Interesting....I'm surprised you bought another Benelli product after having Stoeger issues. I went with Beretta and I'm glad I did. I hear the Benelli's jam quite often.

A friend of mine and his father both bought 2000s and both have had issues with light strikes. It isn't the shells, they would try to fire it multiple times, ithen I put the shell in my 11-87 with no problem.

With that being said the 3500 MAY have no problems. Every gun is different. My 11-87 has had 50,000+ rounds through it and have had 1 repair. One of the ears on the shell lifter cracked. The only other hick-ups were resolved with cleaning. Never even heard of one having the bolt fly out of the gun. I would suspect there was a machining issue with that particular gun. I also have a couple friend that have SBE IIs that could get rid of them quick enough. Me personally, I don't like the forearm grip. So find one that fits you and give the ducks hell.

I bought one a month or so ago and cant wait to shoot it. Plan to shoot it this dove season to get prepared for using it during waterfowl season. Numerous positive recommendations for this gun from waterfowlers in my area!!

The plain black synthetic Berretta 390's are about the same price or lower, Walmart, and I think now Dicks, carry them.

Scott I was going to buy the Beretta but bought the Benelli for 2 reasons, first was I have 3 friends who have them and they never had any problems. The biggest reason however was the price. I walked into a local sporting goods store that was having a clearance sale and they had the gun marked at $850, I asked if was a new gun and they said yes just "last year’s model" didn't take much thinking on my part to realize that was 50% off so I didn't hesitate and bought it right on the spot
