Stuck in the mud...

I would have been asking why it took so long to call the US Coast Guard! 10 hours is crazy.....

Best thing is the weather wasn't bad or it might not have had the same ending....

It's amazing how exhausting trying to walk around in just calf deep mud can be. Let alone knee or deeper. I always thought what a great football team conditioning exercise it would to have them all try jogging in ankle deep to calve deep mud for awhile.

Wow, that's right across the lake from us. We're in Anchor Bay (north end of Lake St. Clair) and this rescue was in Mitchell's Bay (Canadian side-East). Bet that fella "tests" the bottom before doing that again. ;)

One of my best friends lost his son some years back in an incident just like this. They lived just across from the bay on the south shore of Long Island. My buddys son was in his senior year of high school, would go out after school and walk the marsh with Blackie their lab on nice afternoons, trying to jump a couple of ducks. Well we guess he tried to jump a mosquito ditch and his hip waders got him stuck in the mud. We had a decent moon tide and I am sure you can guess the rest. Sad story, cell phones today are a blessing. Rich
