Summer project

Me and my son found a little spare time this summer before he headed out for his first semester of college to build a pirogue.

The whole process took a few weeks, but could easily have been finished in a week if the weather cooperated. It was made from 1/4 inch exterior ply and glassed over with 4oz cloth and epoxy resin. The ribs, stems, gunnels and seat were made from scrap wood we had in the garage; mostly pine.

We took her out for a test paddle and she worked great! I little tippy with two guys but solo or with a dog it push poled and paddled great. She even tracked fairly decent. I'm looking forward to using her for some ducking this season.
We took her out a few time to bow hunt carp. We both stood up, with one pushing poling and the other shooting.

Neat pirogue. Where did you get plans from and what length & width did you build it at. Have kicked around the idea of building one and been watching the web for a used glass one but no luck so far close by.
