Taxidermy advice

As some of you may or may not know I organising a trip to Washington state to hunt with Fred next year. I am very much hoping to collect/shoot some new species to my life. So I got to thinking about having one it two stuffed to help my carving. I did this when I shot a black bellied whistling duck on Huston last year. Now for one that is not to bad but for a few that is going to get far to expensive for me. So I thought what may be an option is to just get heads and necks stuffed. I could then have 6-8 ducks done on family groups like the sawbills, dabblers etc I could even mount them on to a back ground back home in the uk. That way saving a bit on the postage.

My questions are

Does any one have a mount like this ?

What to people think about just having the heads and necks done?

Does any one have pictures to share ?

What would be the cost of getting a head mounted?

Can anyone recommend a good taxidermist at a good price.?

Thanks for your time guys. Paul Scott

The best advice I can give you is to contact Blake Wilson at http://www.trophybirds.com. My son has a mount of his and it if first class. Blake has been in business a long time and is not only talented and creative, but he's also a very good person to do business with, open, honest, and reliable. I believe he has the expertise to do the kind of mount you are after. I know I've seen him make molds in his shop so I suspect he could easily tackle a head neck mount. Give him a call and see what he thinks. At the very least he'll give you some good advice.
