TDB 14 - modifying blind

I bought a 14-ft TDB classic this season. It's a very cool boat, BUT hunting from it works my lower back. I sit on a 5-gal bucket near the center of the boat. Before I modify the blind to allow me and sometimes a buddy to rest our backs against the gunnel, was wondering if any of y'all have already done this and could describe any modifications you've made.

I plan to modify it so that the right side angles out slightly. To do this, i'll have to move the two pole anchors inward, put longer vertical poles on the right side and put longer poles on the bow and stern blind. The right side (or the back when hunting) will have longer poles extending above my head which will allow me to use the rain hood as overhead cover. i'll probably have to get a larger blind for the right side.

The only TDB I have hunted from was a bigger one and we sat in fold up camp chairs. Bob Furia has a 14 and has modified the blind somewhat..may post to him and see what he uses for seating..I never looked when I was around his boat.

Lee is right. I use those collapsing chairs in my 14 (built in '96 by TDB Co. - Maine), but get the kind with the one-piece back & seat (sling?). They will support your lower back. Havent found a need to angle out the blind. Don't see how you'd anchor the fitting to do that and retain any strength.

Thanks Bob. I'll try those seats and if i modify the blind i'll let you know how i do it. i like the way you support the rain fly, i'll have to do something similar.
