TDB is working as a layout

I want to thank the many members who offered suggestions and report that I was able to pull ducks in tight today. Added a bunch of killer weed to the bow and also covered up the cockpit behind my backrest and added some natural grass to the back of my back rest.........Duck for dinner tonight tasted mighty good with a garlic and ginger marinade and served rare on a hot plate. Hope to get some good close in photos in the weeks ahead.

Here are a few shots from last evening with some nice late light and my apology for the great distance that these were taken........never saw a drake pintail around here before ....

a while later the missus shot past .............

And of course it wouldn't be ipswich without a few of our local figher planes........

Sure did enjoy those pictures, Sarge. You sure don't need to apologize for anything. They were great.

Hi Al - Send some of that white stuff out this way..........loved the pictures of the pups going nuts out there !

Great photos Dick. I was fortunate to get my first pintail, a drake, earlier this year. Other hunters in central ma had claimed to have seen them but this year was a first for me.

"Added a bunch of killer weed to the bow and also covered up the cockpit behind my backrest and added some natural grass to the back of my back rest." How about some boat photos. I'd love to see the tdb all grassed out.
Best - Paul

I am also looking forward to seeing how you grassed it up. I have a 14ft tdb classic (Maine built)

Sarge, Great photos, and its about time you posted some duck pictures. If only we had a few of those Black ducks out west. Im so envious.

Hi Gary - I am looking forward to gunning tomorrow, saturday and Monday and it looks like monday will be bright enough for the big glass, hope so anyway !

Dick, glad to see the boat is working out for you. Great pictures.

Hi Mark - Thanks again for a square deal, much appreciated ! Hope your new craft is doing the job. I am floating one of your blocks tomorrow for the first time while I make a small repair to it's mate. Also hope your season is going well.

Here are a couple of shots of the redo on camo.......I also added loose grass to the top of the rear cockpit netting.

Wow that really tucks up in there and hides pretty darn good.

Haven't seen a TDB hidden in the marsh like that before. Thanks for the pictures.

Dick the only suggestion i would have is to take some of that grass vegetation and cover the cockpit, birds up high will look down into that black hole and do what we call the 90 yard "freak out"

Some of that grass zip tied to some netting or hog wire would cover the boat great , just have your head sticking out.

Great photos !!

Fred

Great photos! Thanks for sharing them.

That must be some real in your face gunning in those little canals! Looks like a real neat place.

Dick,
That's cheating, You are below the surface thus falling under the sink box rules!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice Blackducks are they Beans?
Bill.

Great photos Dick. Thanks for sharing. Boat looks great and the decoys looked good too.
Wishing you and the family a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Best - Paul

Thanks everyone !

Yes Fred, I agree that I will need to add something on top. Am thinking about a small hoop midships but I am too busy gunning now to do any more engineering. While this boat looks well hidden in these shots, we have an average tide of 9 1/2 ft and these canals fill right up at high water.

I am managing to take some ducks but my shooting is not very good this year. Managed to get a black around 4 tonight and then had to feel my way back a few miles in the fog. I had a marsh line to follow so it was fine but pretty spooky. I am finding that with the 3" steel loads that 2s are not very good but BBs seem to do the job..............all the usual problems like having a duck sneak in while the gun is in my lap and I am Gnawing on a sandwich etc. You name it and I probably did it in the last 2 days for screw ups...................man I love it out there on the marsh !

happy and safe new year to all !
