Wow! Awesome!
If I had one of those eyes popping out smiley faces I'd use it here.

Thanks guys,

It was nice to get out and shoot some photos again, been working too much lately. Yep Ed. We may have fun. Now remember the Tem Hitch Motto - First In, last out.

Rocky, you can use it for a screen saver, OK by me.

Dave, after those buffy photos, I was already missing the pool.

One day 'till duck season.

Great pic.
Thats probably as many ducks as we have on the entire Mobile Bay & Delta right now!

wow....... Ours Ends and yours begins.... Got to the boat this am and it hit 17 degrees last night had about 3/4" Ice out over 900 yards to the open water of the pool. Broke out got thinner as we went. The birds were just GONE. Overnight it sure seems they got up with the north wind and the clear skies and made a mass exodus south. There were 7 other boats out and hardly any shooting at all. I managed 2 more buffies both drakes and picked up, Headed back to the cabin and the ice was over 1" made a turn for the ramp and arranged for my trailer to arrive and we loaded her up.

Might get better for weather but the loss of ducks floors me. Well if that is it it was a good 30 day season for us. Managed 102 birds from 10-25 to 11-21. Quite a bit better than others I know that gun the same area.

GOOD LUCK YOU SOUTHERN BOYS and GIRLS!

Dave

Dave,

Thanks for the hail. From your time stamp I was headed out the door and headed for the deer stand when you replied. It was 14 in town but 11 degrees when we hit the ramp! Fortunatley others had moved the ice. The ramp was a sheet of ice. I was 2" from having a jeep filled with water before the brakes locked up on the bottom. Took 4wheel drive to get out. 2 volleys from duck hunters before 7:30 NOTHIING after that. Never heard a shot until 9:00. I've never heard it so still opening day of deer season. I counted 8 shots all day that sounded like slugs. I spotted a doe around 100 yds across a grass field headed the other direction around 11:00am. It was so cold my range finder wouldn't operate. Quartering away shot but a clean miss. That's all we seen all day. Very strange. The islands are usually filled with deer and we're in the rut. Tyr it again tomorrow.

Good luck if you go out.

Ed L.

P.S. Hitch, I like that moto!

Great shot Hitch.

When I add up all of the teal I've seen in these parts over the last five years - it wouldn't equal the number in your pic.

Bill

Hitch,

That's not fair! That's a low blow! WTF! I've got to get up a 4:30 AM tomorrow and it's going to be 18 degrees F outside. All of my lakes are freezing up and now the battery in my boat is dead from the cold. Oh, BTW, and 14" of snow just fell on my favorite marsh. That means the boat launch is closed! Hot sunsets with teal rising on the thermals... a cheap shot. I leaving Michigan for Florida. You've got all the ducks;)

Nice picture Hitch, I don't think there will be a duck in Northern Wis tomorrow it is O degrees tonight. Deer hunting starts, I don't think people will be sitting to long in that temperature.

Pete,

I sat in a ground blind this morning with a heater running. It was tolerable but one of the coldest mornings I can remember during the first season of deer hunting.
