Test message & hello

Jamie Best

New member
This is a test to see if I can post a message and picture in the forum. I also wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the members. My name Is Jamie Best and I live in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada. I have been hunting, fishing, and boatbuilding for more than 35 years. You can find my name in the roll call from 1999.

It has been more than a few years since I last posted in the forum. Nice to see the forum and site are going strong. I recognize some of the member’s names and see the names of a lot of new members. I look forward to reading your posts and exchanging some thoughts about the subject that brings us all together on this site.

Lou & Shermie:

It is good to be back. The picture I tried to add did not work so here is another.

so i found blues to be an aquired taste any special recipes to make em more palatable....

i was gonna go and get a few dekes after getting into them last year and by gawd mergansers are better eatin...eiders are my most favorite ...

Shermie:

The blues are a good bird if you soak (covered) them in salted water for about 12-24 hours before you cook them. A friends Grandmother showed me the process. They lived on Wasdamoak Lake, part of the St John river system and she had cooked a lot of them over the years.

We sometimes get Eiders in Miramichi Bay when the Bluebill flight is on if we get a lot of Northeast wind in late October & November. I grew up chasing Eiders in Bonavista & Notre Dame Bays in Newfoundland. I spent a lot of time on the offshore rocks from December to March dresses in whites and taking the Eiders, Scooters, and Old Squaws.

Here are two pics of Eider and Bluebill shooting in Miramichi Bay.

looks like a fun day on the rock .........s cool blind ,do ya pack it in or do you use a boat to transport.?

Those pics are from Miramichi Bay in early November a few years back. We can drive the trucks on the shale beach at low tide or carry the blind, five pieces, from the end of the road across the beach, its is about 100 yards. Takes about 2 minutes to put togeather and 3 more to cover with two layers of camo net. We used to be able to drive out trucks from the end of the road out onto the beach, but a big storm surge eroded 15+ feee of the bank a few years back.
