Thankful for Concealment

I was able to use some vacation time this past week coupled with the holiday to get out four days in a row here in NJ as our second splits got going in earnest.

Got to hunt with some friends and family which is always a bonus. Of course one thing to be thankful for is a boat that hides well. Our South Jersey black ducks seem to be a subspecies that is even more wary than they are known for. I still got busted by a few the other day and have to laugh when I see them flare at live birds, just keeps it interesting!

Even in the armpit of the country I haven't had to sit out a day in advance to get a spot like in Alabama, but then again not much flooded timber to go around here []

Craig is old school, no camo gun. All the guys busted me me for my old guy camo on line... Opened up the OL wallet and bought a NEW camo jacket...
Remember back years ago, no camo, no camo guns and cheap wood decoys and we all killed ducks. Go figure, do we over do it??? I still like PRETTY decoys...

BTW, I'm still "old school" with my gun too. Plain old walnut and bluewing. If the ducks are close enough to be seeing it, they should be getting shot at...

Haha my other gun is camo, but that ones my black cerakoted SBE. Of course before that I was very old school shooting my over/under out of a glass over cedar sneakbox.

That's a nice bunch of ducks. Guys are shooting divers up above us but here in death valley that's more ducks than I've seen this year.
