Thanks to Lou Tisch

In the process of getting a 20' Lund alaskan ready for the big water for this falls waterfowling season, and can't purchase Pettit paint up here any more, so from all the great reviews I've read about Lous' FME Paint, I called him up and Lou brought the paint up to the Decoy show in Marine City Mi, where my buddy Paul picked it up for me..Thanks Lou and Paul, and looking forward to seeing this paint lay on this hull as I know already this #33 will blend perfectly with the open water, for the big divers...Ernie Roberts

Although I emailed Lou for photos of other open water paint jobs and rigs to use as reference, if anyone else has any photos to post, I would appreciate them.. Thanks again...

Thanks Lou for the photos. that is a gorgeous Brant you have there..love the lines on that hull, and I'm Very impressed how well that #33 grey with the lighter grey fits the bill for the open water..With enough Canadian beer in me, I can get those waves lines painted right... :) Look forward to having you up to gun some late season Cans and reds in January too..Thanks again...Ernie

Ernie,
Glad you like the Brant II-X...it's my favorite and the reason I bought the company in '86. You'll have to join us for some sculling as well as chasing birds on your side of the "pond" (small pond). ;) Looking forward to the season and gunning with you and Paul. We've got a place right on Anchor Bay (North end of Lake St. Clair).
Later partner,
Lou

Lou - That "secret lake" is still a favorite spot...you should tell them about your open water gray almost getting us mowed down in the Harsens Island area. I think that group of hunters told us we were "invisible"...until we jumped up screaming, "Don't hit us!"

Lou; I'm not sure getting together with you is going to be a good thing....guys like you are trouble indeed...I can see an addition going on the drive shed with more boats in it... :)

I can picture Paul now up in the front of that skull boat, trembling like a half frozen Lab as we make our approach....That's a method of gunning I have never tried, yet talked to many ol' timers over the years and they say that's the only way to gun bay ducks...yup, I can see you costing me alot of money...

Ya know Ernie, more boats (from us of course) and a bigger boat & decoy shed sounds like a great deal....for me anyhow. ;)
I have guys who come over to my shop and have to lie to their wives and tell them that they're going to the topless bar instead of telling them they're coming to my shop. ;) ..........well, close anyhow.

I understand that "lab whine & tremble"....I've seen it often in my buddies when I've taken them out sculling for the first time. I remember my first time....wow. It's the reason I bought the company.
Ya know, maybe you should just put me on your credit card...extra card list. That'll make it easier. ;)
Later partner, gonna be a fun year.

You're right, that was way too funny.

Scott & I were sculling on a drake mallard in a canal (Snooks Highway) on Harsen's Island. We had this Mallard dead to rights and only needed another minute to have him be OURS. Just then, a big 20' jon boat with a go-devil on the back came roaring out of Muskamoot Bay and into the cut and heading right for us. We sat up, shouted and waved as he obviously didn't see us. He almost ran into the marsh trying to stop, telling us that he was sorry and hadn't seen us. I said that it was OK since we're in a boat that's designed to hide in open water....guess it's good in canals also.

The bad part was that the Mallard they flushed was our only bird we had a chance on all day. We tried to scull into Muskamoot Bay (where this boat had just come from) and the water was only ankle deep. Good for a big jon boat up on plane but not for our sculler.
Tons of fun though.
Lou
