To those man that came before us. The teachers of the young. The men that showed us the way. In my case it was my dad. He showed me how to hunt and how to be a good person. My dad was a big time deer hunter. Guided many hunters back in the day in the Catskills. My father could find a deer when they weren't even there . Grown men use to come to the house to beg my dad to take them hunting. He got me my first duck boat and motor ,my first decoys ,my first, second and third gun. My Dad was my everything, he died much to young. 57 many years ago. But to this day when I shot a deer or a duck and can't find them. I ask dad to help me out. Its funny what you remember, but those guys back in the day were men. There wasn't nothing they could not do. My dad once took a broken tv and fixed it! and never put all the tubes back. Could take a car motor apart, build just about anything, run any machine. He was Marine as a young man. And was proud of it to the day he died. My older brother is like my dad he is 71 he can do everything. He learn first hand from the best. My middle brother can't hammer a nail. But he got my dads brain he is 62. Me I can't even come close to any of them. Mom was mom and she was my rock and ruled the roast. She gone now too, been a bunch of years. Loved them both ! and wished more people would love there parents and each other more. The world would be so much better.

A nice tribute, indeed. I am sorry you lost your parents at young ages. My wife and I - and our children - have been lucky enough to enjoy both sets of parents/grandparents well into truly golden years.

My Dad, too, was an ex-Marine who could - and did - do just about anything. He taught me lots of important things. He shot his last double on Brant at age 85 - and spent his last day in the field with me a few months later - just weeks before he passed. Of course, I think of him every day.

All the best,

SJS

Thank you very much for the nice words. Your Dad was a great father. I can just tell by the way you talk about him. My Dad past away days after deer season ended and a few Days before Christmas. Many years ago. But he shot a deer for each one of his three sons during his last days on earth. Their body may be gone, but THEIR soul will live in us for ever.

Thanks
