Wonderful story, wonderful photos, good choice of the over-under with wood and steel for the game shots instead of that black thing you were lugging through the fence...
Bill, the fact that she was using "that ugly black gun" as a fence spreader is exactly why she so rarely gets to use a twice barrel to hunt. I've seen her use that "ugly gun" for everything from a paddle to pry bar and as a result the ground has to be pretty flat, rock free, and the stars aligned before she shoots anything but.
Im with you Dani.....the gun is just a utility tool.It is a paddle, walking stick, pry bar, depth checker, brush beater, noise maker and sometimes it even kills birds LOL
Thanks for "taking" us along with you guys.
You shoulda seen the way Steve watched me when I was finally able to talk him into letting me use his other twice barrel for half an hour (took a whole week just to talk him into it). Nice short walk around a grassy pond. Hell I had to damn near sign Drake away just to touch that pretty gun. He claims I shot the pheasant that was supposed to be HIS cuz I stole it from him. Reality is is that he was so skeered I'd drop his pretty gun he didn't see that bird get up and so of course I had to see how sweetly that gun shot. When he saw where the pheasant dropped he made me give him the gun back. I was not allowed to go down the side of the rocky hill to the creek with it. And when I pulled myself up the side of the hill (steep hill) all covered in dirt, he took one look at me and told me I wasn't touching his gun again, that we're going back to the truck to go get the ugly black one.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh but for a short time I got to hold such a lovely gun and I was in love......
