Threads

Again I apologize for my lack of knowledge. Can someone please tell what a "thread" is and what you can do with it?
I love the site and want to take full advantage of all its parts. Thanks

Back in the late 50s, my father and I drove to Wadena to visit Harold Willis, who was Wadena's basketball coach. I think he was also a history teacher. Anyway, Mr. Willis was showing us the brand new basketball facility that had just been built. He looked at me and said, "Skip, don't even think of walking on this brand new floor with those street shoes."
