Thunderstorms whats with this weather

I was out this morning and ran like a chicken when I heard the thunder. What's with this weather.
We should not be getting thunder storms in January on long Island

I'm with you on that one.Last saturday we had tornado warnings one county over , tuesday that same week it was 9 degrees. Like the old saying goes if you don't like the weather just wait a day or so.
