Well it's that time of year again.

What carvers are willing to send a decoy around and who is willing to hunt with it?

Same deal as last year. Sign up for a few days when you can hunt with it, and send it to the next guy on the list.

If you can't handle sending it on time....don't sign up.

So....carver's......post up what you're willing to donate and we'll vote for which decoy is making the big journey this year. Heck....we could do more than one.

Of course....the bird is auctioned off for the site after the season.

Heck...it might be time to get a brand from Terry for this thing.

guys

I would love to have a decoy here in the Klamath basin to hunt with for a couple of days. a Woodie was not pratical but just about any others species other than sea ducks and geese are. we have a long 107 day season here again so i am flexable about when it gets here as i know that others arn't as fortunate.

im up for carving one, what species would folks like? i plan on having an extra whistler that might like to see some flight time this year. also just worked up a new can and woodie pattern that i cant wait to see float.

let me know
thanks

I would love to give another woodie a try. That seems like all I shot last year. Did not hardly ever go without filling a woodie limit. It may also be nice to have a Canvasback, I feel like if things go like last year we could get an early season Can. I would like to be a part of it if possible.

Dave,

A woodie or any puddler would work here in the midwest. I'd like to give it a go again but since I got to hunt over Woodrow with Dave Shady last year I'll pass and let someone else have a shot.

Hi Dave,

I see ya got home O.K. GOOD!

Heck, you know me, a woodie or a mallard would be fine with me (I don't get any Cans on my ponds).

Just put me on the tail end of the hunt like you did last year and I woun't fail ya! BTW your nice hen woodie is on the top of my antique piano and always on display there.

Dave

Dave:
Your woodrow sits on my fireplace and I certaintly would like a second chance at anything again this year but more than just 2 days to hunt over it---It would be fun to beat Dave Parks. He made us all look kinda sick. You Wisconsin hunters remember my son and I still have a gift of one mounted duck coming from Blake for some young boy or girl duck hunter.
Dave, on second thought, I could box your decoy up (still have your original box believe it or not) and with the journal along set up another schedule. What do you think?

Ok....So far it's only Me and Ed willing to donate.

What I need is a list of carvers and the species they will donate. Then we'll vote. Hopefully one puddler and one diver can make the rounds.

Ed...a Goldeneye would be great.

Boz....Woodrow is your's not mine!!....He can stay just where he is. He called the other day and said you have him in a great spot.

Dave....I'm still in Utah.....just got in from a 3 hour stalk. 7 bucks winded us at about 50 yds and didn't give a shot. One nice 4x4 a little wider than mine, and a 3x3 with the rest dinks.

Geeze Dave, nothin' like an extended mule deer archery hunt. I thought you were just going to be there for 4 days.........Kewl!

Good on doing some spot & stalk......that dang wind can change in just a few seconds on those warm days. Have fun and stick'em good!

Dave

a whistler it is then i'll get to carving as i have dozen heads to carve and fit on bodies that i have ready to go. heres a pic of one i just finished.

I could make a flattie (wood sillywet) gull of some kind if there would be any interest in that. I'll see what paint I have on hand maybe I could make a pintail. I just don't do many normal floating decoys and I don't think I'd get a canvas bird done before the season.
It would be different and easy to box and ship. I like the idea of a confidence decoy so there will be no pressure to shoot the specie it represents. :-)

I guess thinking about it more, a early season Can may be just the trick. Sure did like the odds of the Woodie though. I definitely want to be on board.

Ed-

Beautiful Whistler!!

Tim....We'll throw it in the mix and if it gets the votes, bring it on.

Dave....I gave myself 9 days b/c I knew how hard it could be to take a Mulie with a bow. My two "guides" both have tags left as well as my buddy Marty. His last night is tonight.

When I booked my flight we had a little mis-comunication and I'll be here a day and a half extra. I hope to find a place to dove hunt on thursday. I'll be sure to post pics if all goes as planned.

i see a few votes for a canvasback im gonna carve both regardless if either go on the trip but when i get done carving them i'll put up some pics and then folks can choose, im just pumped to see my first canvasback from this pattern come to life. le me know when we need them done by, 0ct 1st? or earlier?

thanks
eddie

Not a carver yet!, but would love to host a bird for a few days of hunting. Can, Goldeneye, Pintail or teal sound good to me.
