Traveling decoys 2016-2017

I got a PM asking if we can do it again. I'm fully willing to organize it and even can offer up a stool. However I can't do this alone, so....

CARVERS: what might you have to offer? It doesn't have to be new, can be out of the rig. If it is a work in progress, keep in mine that we will want to get this migration moving in the next couple weeks, and it helps to have a picture of your stool sample.

HOST HUNTERS: Shoot me an email to TravelingDecoy@gmail.com and let me know you are interested, along with pertinent information like season dates, your address and any special requests like trips, group hunts, or diver vs. puddler preference. Keep in mind the more flexibility you give me the easier it is to get more guys involved. Any and all DHBP members are welcome to host.

Assuming we have a good responce AND stool offereings, we typically have one diver and one puddler.

Questions...post, PM or email me...

Best

Chuck, I would be interested in hosting a puddler for our (Minn) opener the weekend of Sept 24. Nothing like a short timeline ehh. The next weekend could work very nice too but then for me I will take the next week off. Later season would work for me too. The second weekend of our season I will be introducing a new guy to the virus of waterfowling and will take full blame for it. I have hosted several travelers and would be proud to do it again.

Tom (and any others that want to get in on this)

Shoot me an email to TravelingDecoy@gmail.com Makes it easier to keep track of it all.

Chuck,

while I've really been thrilled and enjoyed hosting a traveling decoy for the last few years, I am going to pass this year. Too many unanswerable questions left in my schedule for this season. We have several family obligations and I'm just not sure of what's going to happen with my season.

Of course, I'll be following along

Cheers,

Jon

I requested it for my Chincoteague trip in your place Jon. Just I case you end up swinging it.

Okay, I've heard from a few of you, but still looking for more hosts. Might be a few unanswered (heck, unasked) questions floating around out there. Here is how it works...

Hosts...we take one (or two) hand made decoys, ship it form member to member allowing them a turn to hunt over it. They sign the deek and share some of their experience with the decoy by posting here and filling in the decoys journal. At the end of the season (or maybe given history, I should just say "after the season") the decoy and it's journal are auctioned off here on the forum with proceeds going to fund the site. Oh, and DHBP = Duck Hunters Boat Page...used to be the heading on the old format, so if you are relatively new here, but have a log in, you are a member of the DHBP. This is a great way to get more active and get to know some of your fellow members better.

Decoy makers...still looking for some options other than the rag I am offering up...my offering will be one of these drakes, the last one left I believe, out of my hunting rig, and before that out of my ODCCA Pool Rig from a few years back.

Added pic of actual deek...in need of a dust off after a summer of projects...

here is a mallard i finished last year.
i haven't hunted him and have haven't sold any of my birds. i like having my progression around to see what i have learned. the only other bird i let go was for Jode when his shop burned down.

i have learned a lot from this site and have met a lot of great people too so i thought it would be a good way of saying thanks.

hopefully he can make out it west and stake a claim for me....

Jeff Nelson has offered up a BWT drake:

Still would hope to see some more diver deeks offered. Schedule is getting fairly full at this point, have to finalize a few things to see if there is room for more, but if you are interested, shoot me an email and I'll add you to the list, generally taking hosts first come first served, with the exception being if there is timing issues.

Thanks
Chuck

Yes, all except that rag of an excuse for a diver deek...no worries Mark, I have you penciled in on the puddler group.
