All~

I have just posted another step-by-step TUTORIAL on my website. I show how I paint Homer Oldsquaw:

Here are a few photos to whet your appetite.

I coated 18 birds with my usual U S Composites 3:1 Medium Harder Laminating Epoxy (with some Cabosil added to slow runs) then sprinkled on some fine-ground Walnut Shells (from Harbor Freight).

I primed the cured epoxy + walnuts with a latex (if I recall correctly) primer.

As usual, I start with the Drakes....

Beautiful.

Love the soft look the texture creates...

Maybe one day...got my hands full for now!

I ordered that through Harbor Freight. It is their Fine grade. I just tried some ground corncob on some Herter's Model 63 Wigeon (post later this week). I think I prefer the corncob.

If you want to try some walnut shells, I can bring you a batch the next time I come to LI (next week?).

Stay tuned!

Bill Clark - an Ohio gunner from this site - sent me samples. I think it typically comes in 50 pound bags. I'm not sure yet whether I am ready for that!

See you soon,
