Two Firsts - WI Youth Waterfowl Hunt

My son Carter and our young lab Easton both had firsts this past Saturday. Carter, his first duck (BW teal). Easton, his first "real" working retrieve. Awesome day.....AWESOME. The duck was shot out of a Devlin Mallard.

It's been a long time since I last posted on this forum. However, one of the first things I thought of after taking this picture was that I had to post it on the DHBP. Carter is the young man under my arm in the below picture taken at the first Midwest DHBP gathering.

Until next time my friends,

Hi Joe,

Been wondering what happened to you. Congrats for your new hunting partners. Having your kids hunt with you is what it's all about.

Thanks for that link, some good memories from that time. Yes, I still have those crocs:)

Congrats on both first...I have been waterfowling 30 years and everyone still feels like the first to me...

Regards,
Kristan

Ah yes, the crocs. You can't go through life without making a fashion statement at some point.
I'm really enjoying this stage of life with both the kiddos. I don't even care to shoot anymore. I get more enjoyment out of watching the kids succeed and working the pup. They shoot better than I do anyway.
Glad to see you're still part of the DHBP community.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Joe

Good to see you on the board. Wondered what had happened to you. It's been a long time. Where do the years go? Congrats to Carter and Easton. Funny looking at the old pictures. Oh and I didn't give up on the boat design just found one better than I could ever build. LOL

Nothing could have been better than those two firsts, Joe. I agree. Thanks for taking the time to tell us and for the pictures. Good luck for the rest of the season. I hope you have some more special days.
Al
