Two man sneak?

Thought I would consult the experts here. Is there such a thing as a two man sneak? A sneak boat fits my style of hunting but I want to be able to take my son with me and be able to sit shoulder to shoulder while we hunt. I have been lurking here for a long time and to this date don't remember seeing a wide enough boat to fit my needs. Any point in the right direction is appreciated. -Ira

Traditionally a true sneakbox is a 1 man boat, Mark Rongers should be able to way in on this with his new boat experience. I would recommend putting him in a pond box next to you if you want to run a sneakbox. Motor out with him and you in the boat and put your gear in the pondbox. That's how we do it in NJ.

Otherwise, I would look for a larger boat that is not a traditional sneakbox. The Devlin line should offer you several possibilities.

Good luck.

Ira,

Do not claim to be an expert, but my son and I hunt out of a Devlin BBII, side by side. It's not a traditional sneak box, but pretty close. This setup works well (I added a cockpit cover mid way through last season, and plan on sewing a few grassing straps on the engine cover and dodger to completely grass for next season). Give me holler if you have any questions.

Ira-

There are several 2 man sneaks made commercially.

The Classic Barnegat 14' seats 2 people comfortably, and I think Bankes makes a 2 man sneak. Lock Stock and Barrell's South Bay Scooter is a 2 man boat if I'm not mistaken.

Take Care,
Kirk

Ira,
You looking for a sneak boat or a sneak box? A Sneak Boat is typically double ended and used to drift into a set of decoys when birds drop into the rig. I don't know of anybody currently building Sneak Boats....you'd have to check the reselling market on that.

If you're looking for a Sneak Box, that would be the Barnegat Bay Sneak Box style of boat. If can be used for marsh hunting as well as some layout shooting. It can be pretty versatile.

We do manufacture one called the South Bay Scooter (as Kirk indicated). It's a two man marsh/layout boat and I've used one a bunch for marsh hunting and also in our Layout Guide Service when I was running that heavy. You an go to our website and click on "Scooter" for info. www.lockstockbarrell.com

Let me know if we can be of service.
