Have done a search in hope of finding some instruction on building these on this site but come up empty save for silo plans for decoys to use on them. Looking to put some together for some seaduckin next season. Anybody here versed in the construction of arms and gearbox willing to share that info?

Scott,
The tutorial you referenced no longer has the pictures. Is that a site issue? Or, is it my computer?

Thanks in advance....

John, I live in Snow Hill so I may just take you up on that offer. Still debateing on whether to build v boards or sleds . have you ever tryed sleds in our waters and if so whats your opinion as to effectivness and ease of deployment of the 2 types? Will probably build around 25 or so of scoter sets of one or the other. I,m guessing the v boards probably stow a little easier in boat.

Thanks carl, have been looking at that one since last spring. Probably going to try and duplicate the scoter silo from that which ever i build, sled or v board.

would love to take a look at your v boards and take a few referance pics if offer still convenient. Just let me know when it suits. cell ph. 443-523-4197

Thanks scott. Noticed on diagram of gear bx. calling for eye bolt. I,m asumeing dropper is attached there when running on gang lines? Or do they ride better when dropper hooked to lead silo arm?

Not knowing different I always ran mine from the lead arm. They had lots of drag when used in current and a full body or black lobster pot needs to lead the y-boards because the front leg will get pulled under by the anchor if attached directly in anything but still conditions. To me they were a pain and were retired. In my opinion/application, sleds work better. Below is a combination of sleds (6), 12 full body blk cork.

I actually sold off all my y-boards once I built up enough fully body decoys to replace them.
That said, if I needed high-visibility decoys, like for sea ducks, I would build more, or make sleds.

If your worried about current...... shorten the length of the arms. I hunt coastal NJ and my diver V boards are 2-2.5' in length.

Roy, lead arm. The current would fold the back arms up if anchored from the gear box. I just found a set in the garage. They were 22'' long.
If you want to pm me your cell I'll forward you a couple pictures. I don't know how to post.
