Value of H&K SBE 1?

I bet Dave would know.

Does shotgun news still publish gun prices?

You could also surf some of the sites like gunbroker to get an idea. I have trouble imagining ANY SBE that is in good condition selling for under $900.

On the other hand, it is only worth what a willing buyer and a willing seller can agree to and are willing to exchange value for. I have a "normal" SBE1 on the classifieds here that isn't selling at $800. Very surprising to me since it is in very good condition and I'd have paid that in a heartbeat when I was looking. Used ones were selling like hotcakes at that point and it wasn't unusual to have a used one in fair condition fetching $975.

Good luck on your quest.

That's the same one I have. I really don't know the value as mine isn't for sale. If it has been shot a lot it may need a main spring and a magazine spring. Both are available through Surecycle and are very easy to put in yourself. Though mine has never had a problem some lots of those guns had ejector plates (I think that is the name) with problems. I seem to remember that it was a metal specification or hardness issue. I love my SBE and won't ever get rid of it. I shoot better with it than any other off the rack gun I've shot.

As a side note, I bought a used M1-90 with only 4 boxes of shells through it last year for $700.

Good Luck

Sounds like an early super90 (tactical). With sighted-slug/buckshot barrel @21inches- $450. With 26 or 28 Vent Rib barrell and chokes $600+ If you need an exact figure- check Shotgun News at the news stand- they are always on the money.

I've seen H&K SBE's on used-gun racks priced in the $600-$900 range. Price is usually a factor of condition. Most are priced in the $700-$850 range in good condition. Most of the H&K SBE's had a misdesigned and incorrectly heat treated ejector "plate" and most of them broke in use. Heckler & Koch and later Benelli USA would usually send you a replacement for free. Not a big deal to replace, but check all used H&K guns to see if it's been broken. Unless you're sure that the plate has been replaced, probably a good idea to go ahead and replace it if you buy a used H&K. I own a few H&K SBE's and have had to replace the plate on all of them. Otherwise they've been flawless.
