video camera problem

Is there anyone on here that knows how to fix a sony video camera. I had it out last turkey season and it was raining. I took it out of my pocket to video a deer walking through the CRP and it wouldn't turn on. I called an electronics place and they said it would be $200. That is more than I want to spend on a camera that I paid $300 for. If anyone has any experience with Sony Digital video cameras, let me know if it is something I can do or should I just get a new one... Leaning towards a new one though.

Jacob, I have sony video camera DCR-TRV740 As you know moisture and electronics don't mix. Looking at the manual for my camera under trouble shooting. There is two things that might help. Ejecting the cassette and letting it dry. If the cassette doesn't eject. next check battery. If battery OK If you are certain there is no moisture in the camera and you have power. You can open the LCD panel disconnect the battery or power wait one minute and then look under Title there is a reset button. Take a sharp pointed object and push it. All settings will return to default. Hope that helps.

I don't know the model of your camera but most Sony's are similar. Good luck and keep your camera when in the field in one of those zip lock bags. wet or dry.
