I was hoping for a 60 day no split to the end of December but I'll take it. Of course my buddy said today we'll probably get hit with a cold December and I replied isn't that we're hoping for?

Stay safe,shoot straight

Good morning, Kevin~

I am glad to see that Wednesday opener for the early season - especially since it's later than our SE date.

All the best,

SJS

So, how many of you married guys are all ready calculating how a later than usual season end will conflict with Christmas shopping?

John

Yes Glad to see the Wednesday opener as well. Here in Ny we have steered away from it to increase accessible days, but I did like it when it did.

So the SE opens on the 10/7? I haven't seen the dates.

John B, my wife puts on her hunting widow dress around the 20th of Sept and really doesn't look for me until the Western zone ends in January :)

Kevin~

Yes, SE opens same day as NE - and about 3 weeks earlier than Western.

The "logic" escapes me.....

All the best,

SJS

I'm not sure why this is. 2016 SE met before the NE task force and set the 10/1 opener. As a rule the NE zone will no longer open if the first Saturday falls on the 1st or 2nd of October. It is just too early. 2017 first Saturday falls on the 7th, so that is the opener, It's that easy.
I wasn't well enough to sit in on the SE task force meeting but I will contact my DEC task force rep to get some insight.
it might be possible the input survey showed these to be the preferred dates for the SE opener.
