Waders

I'm on yr 2 or 3 on my Cabelas cheapo breathables and they have holes here and there. I'm sick of getting wet.

One problem I have with waders is the short inseam which tends to trip me up and limit my mobility.

I'm just shy of 6'5" and wear a 34" inseam on most pants. Does anyone make a wader that will fit me normally? With most waders it's like the knee, hip and crotch are all in the wrong spot.

I'm about to order the Drake EST lightweight waders $350 at Midway USA, and I'm also looking at the Banded RedZone breathables that cabelas is selling for $300.

Any input on where else I should look?

Thanks,

I hear your frustration on mobility and longevity. I had a pair of front zip waders that were really nice but they didn't even last a season before the crotch started to leak. Bass Pro stuck by them as they always have and let me swtich them for credit to a different style, so I am back to the same old style camo rubber that seams to be the best for longevity.

Good luck.

I have had the same problem over the years, While I am only 6'1", I think I am all legs. I went the other direction from high end waders to cheaper stocking foots with rubber bottomed wading boots. I have lightweight for the early season, and some neoprene's for when it gets colder. I get the tall versions and now have plenty of room. I think I paid about 80 beans for each, I never get more then three seasons even if I buy the expensive ones, and have found the stocking foots seem to be cut longer in the leg, which is really what you need. I am getting in and out of my AA Wigeon all the time and need flexibility and don't need my waders hiking down half way over my butt when I bend over or kneel in the boat. I've been doing this for about 5 years now and am on my second pair of everything, but I am comfortable. I rarely wade waist deep, usually just to my knees, so my waders are as much about keeping me dry from water splashing around and the dog jumping on me, and keeping the Delaware Bay mud off of me. Not sure if that works for what you do.

I wear waders for the same reason, to keep marsh mud off me and when the mud gets the better of me and puts me on my knees. I do not mean to highjack the post but how do you like the AA Wigeon. I picked one up this spring that was only used one year in the late 80s and then stored in the woods. Put a lot of work into it and I am looking forward to the November season when we have enough birds around to try it out. I have always hunted big boats in salt water and this is a first. Of course I will exercise common sense and use it in small areas. How does it handle the waves being so low?

I have the same inseam length. I use large long on all my waders. There are pluses and minuses with all wader types. Switched from neoprene to breathable about two years ago. The fit and mobility is great. I can get enough warm clothes under them to stay warm most of the time. My feet are not as warm as they were in the boot foot neorprenes. Wish they made a boot foot in a camo pattern for breathable.
