Ward Foundation NEA Grant...

This year had the privilege to be part of the Ward Foundation NEA Grant to promote the making of gunning decoys. I'll be at the Wildfowl Expo in Salisbury on October 8-9. If any of you guys are in the area, stop by. I'd enjoy meeting you.

Here is my handsome group of carvers. From left to right, top row, Bill Brown, Aaron Gregory, Pat Gregory, Christian Brown, Jim Crowley. Bottom row, left to right, Josh Brown, Jim Williams, Tim Speight.

All carvers did a fine job on their decoy and have lots to be proud of. I am especially proud of these guys and their comitmment to making gunning decoys. God has blessed me by knowing each one of them...

Too cool.

Pat is there a place I can go to see where these NEA classes are happening? I missed Mark Costilows and yours due to a lack of knowledge.

Pat, Great looking bunch of deeks...and with the exception of the two front row center and right, not a bad looking bunch of carvers ;) I didn't realize you were doing this...very cool!

Hank, here is more info on the program, but I don't know how you would find out ahead of time who is doing these programs, you might try contacting the museum and asking for info on next years instructors.

see you in a couple of weeks, Pat---hope you ae bringing some of your charges east for a day on delmarva!

Hank - The instructors basically advertise locally. You can do group classes or individual classes. I chose individual classes. The goal is to teach the craft of making gunning decoys to individuals interested in hunting with their decoys and, carrying on the tradition of decoy making... And, each student's decoy competes in the Chesapeake Challenge at the Waterfowl Expo sponsored by the Ward Foundation.

The real benefit is friendship... Pat

Chuck....you shouldn't pick on Tim that way.....he is your elder!

Jim, so you're saying Tim's excuse is that time hasn't treated him well? Then what's your excuse? :)

I guess I'm going with "my friends" haven't treated me well.....Hope everything is going well for you and you have a great season.

Hey Jim,

Any of you guys joining Pat out there? I won't be there, but keep an eye out for one or two of my canvas deeks...how many depends on how much room Ballard can free up in his vehicle. The one that will for sure make the trip doesn't take up much space, the other, well it's a bit of a space hog...

Take care

Chuck

Tim and I won't be making it as we'll just be getting back from Canada the weekend before. Let me know how your bird fair. Also, you better keep an eye on Brian as some of your decoys could come up missing!!

Jim,

I'll bet my decoy beats your decoy OUT OF THE TANK!

Good luck on your trip,

Chuck
